Support
We found out about Four Day hombre through seeing the excellent video for their single "The First Word". We liked it so much we got it's director to do the video for "Target". I went to see them a week later in a tiny venue in front of fifty people and they were incredible. I think they are going to be very big. The Delays supported us at a gig we did in Southampton. If you haven't heard their song "Valentine" you should go on their website and check it out I love it. Mumm-Ra have a closer Embrace connection. Mick did the strings on a beautiful track of theirs called "Now or Never".
Extra Tracks
J wanted me to mention something about the extra tracks that are going to be coming with Target...
Run Away
Some people thought we should have held it back as a possible future single. But I want our future to be a bit more rock and roll than this. It has a kind of Shangri-las / Spector vibe to it.
One Luck
I love the way this one turned out. It's from the sessions in Spain. I still cant believe we were "start to finishing" three or four songs a day out there. Richard's guitar riff steals the show for me. He mixed it as well so it sounds great. He's getting good at mixing is our Rik. This is kind of like the cockier and cooler younger brother of "Feels Like Glue".
Thank God You Were Mean To Me
One of the darkest lyrics I've ever written. One of the lines in the second verse goes too far but I couldn't come up with anything that felt more real or more right. In the end we decided that I would sing it and we would censor ourselves. I'm not sure any band has ever done that before. I know Kubrik did it with Clockwork Orange. In the end in a funny way I think the bleeps are as eloquent as the words were, if not more so. Rik's back in love with the guitar again. This is a heavy mother.
Just Admit It
This is all about the groove. If I'm ever late to soundcheck or there is some technical problem that means we have to wait around. Mike and Steve start playing this kind of thing. Again this is heavy.
That's it.
Danny
